A. McGill & Son Nursery was started in 1928 in Gresham, Oregon by Archibald and Wayne McGill to produce fruit trees, roses, and B&B evergreens for wholesale trade in the Eastern United States with emphasis on quality and service. Wayne McGill operated the company until 1972, when his son Peter took
over ownership. In 1998, Pete’s daughter, Carolyn, joined the staff at the
nursery. There have been many changes throughout the years, both to the product line and the farm itself. Our present product line consists of deciduous bare root shade and flowering trees and greenhouse liners from tissue culture. The accumulation of land has also changed over the years. The original farm in Gresham, grew from its original 80 acres grew to over 300. In 1996, that block of land was sold and the entire operation was relocated to a 300-acre parcel in Hubbard, Oregon. Facilities there include 70,000 square feet of warehouse space and 16,000 square feet of greenhouse space. A. McGill & Son produces and delivers between 500,000 and 750,000 field-grown trees and 750,000 greenhouse-grown liners annually. Our plants are marketed throughout the United States and Canada by four sales representatives, each of whom have strong backgrounds both in growing nursery stock and in sales. Customers are contacted at their business locations and at annual trade shows. A. McGill & Son is a family owned business dedicated to growing quality bare root liners. We are proud to service the nursery industry and be part of Oregon’s agricultural community. Many thanks to our loyal customers and employees who have taken part in A. McGill & Son’s success.
